Skin Growths

Skin Growths on our Body

There are many different kinds of skin growths that are both extremely common and non-cancerous. Some of these conditions include:

  • Moles
  • Freckles
  • Cherry Angiomas
  • Lentigo (Age Spot)
  • Skin Tags
  • Warts
  • Seborrheic Keratosis
  • Basal Cell Carcinoma
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Moles occur when skin cells cluster together. The majority of moles are not harmful to your health, but if there are changes in the mole’s color, size, height, or shape, a dermatologist should be contacted immediately. Also, if a mole is tender, painful, bleeds, or oozes contact your dermatologist.

Freckles are small brown spots commonly found on the face, neck, chest, and arms. Freckles are caused by exposure to sun and can also be acquired genetically. Freckles are almost always harmless, but people with freckles are at a greater chance for developing skin cancer.

Skin tags are small tabs of skin tissue that hang off your skin. They are commonly found on the chest, back, neck, and armpits. Skin tags occur in both sexes and can be attributed to friction, aging or weight gain. There are numerous options on how your dermatologist can safely remove your skin tags.
